Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

Release of information

My brother was held and questioned by police at the Univ. of Iowa. During this time, his name address and all contact info was released to the entire student body and public news outlets. He was released about 2 hours later completely free of charges. Is this right?

It was part of a police investigation, so there was no impropriety unless something was said that constituted slander.
