Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa
Is this slander
DHS has false alligations about me saying that I was smoking pot while my grandchildren was present. They said they charged me with this but I didn't receave any papers saying they did until I went to adopt my grandchildren through Child Connect. Child Connect denyed my adoption because of this, my daughters rights to her children had been terminated. My daughter received this alligation about me, but never did I.And being ignorant to the law I thought when a charge was made it had to go to court and be told by the judge that i was quilty. And since I didn't get a court date I didn't think that the charge was being taken. I have appealed this to the courts but they tell me that I had only 6 months to do so and denyed my appeal.when Child Connect denyed me I acted within the time limit but still denyed me. These alligations are false and I had witnesses to prove this. The day when this allgation was made a DHS women showed up at my house unannounced to check on my grandchildren who I was carring for while their mother was hospitalized. I had aroommate they found2seeds and arrested me.Still I was not smoking pot with my grandchildren present. ? can i take this to court and prove this as slander for false alligations?

Re: Is this slander
Hello, Your fact situation raises an interesting legal question but without seeing the entire Court file an attorney would not be able to answer your question. I would suggest you obtain a copy of the DHS file and the Court file in the county where the action was pending. Then arrange to meet with an attorney. Allow the attorney time to review the file, research the law and then your question can be answered.
