If someone both slanders and libels your business and has no documentation for the libel, can they be sued for damages?

Yes, as a matter of fact they can. It's not easy but in Kono v. Meeker-an Iowa case- it is pretty much a roadmap of how it was done. You can google that term and if you find my blog you can find a comment that may have come from one of the litigants. Here's a link to read about it.
