Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

voice-room recording

I work for a public entity. I believe a person I work with is recording conversations in our break room. Can he do this (he is not in the room), or how can he use this against the rest of us?

I just spoke on this subject and there was a similar case here in Iowa at one of the Clerk of Court offices. Unless one person to the conversation gives permission to have their voice recorded it is illegal.
