Legal Question in Immigration Law in Iowa

revoke green card

my dad sponsored my uncle and his family over here not too long ago. They got their green cards about 5 months now. 1 day after they got their green cards they took off and left for another state. As it turned out they owe bunch of money from the vietnamese governement, stole from us, and now working for cash and avoiding paying taxes. Is there a way where we can revoke their green cards and deport them back to vietnam so they can pay for their debt.

Re: revoke green card

Once the government has granted green card status, the only way it can be revoked is if there has been a misrepresentation, or fraudulent representation on the application that, if it were known, would have resulted in a denial of the application. If a crime was committed in Vietnam, and no mention of it was made during the adjustment process, then it is possible that the government would be interested in putting the family in removal proceedings. This doesn't mean they will be removed -- only that they will appear before an immigration judge to have their case heard. If you suspect a problem, you must alert the USCIS office that granted the green card and advise them that there was misrepresentation on the application. Be careful, however; by revealing this, you may be putting your uncle in jeopardy, as well as your father who sponsored.

Good luck!
