Legal Question in Insurance Law in Iowa

auto accident

my car was backed into. The person at faults insurance company refuses to pay for all damages. we were told to get two estimates. we told them from the start who we wanted to fix our automobile they were reputable the other bodyshop wasnt. they would only pay the smaller estimate. which left us with the remaining balance . although we were told by the adjuster they would pay what was leftbefore we took the car to our body shop. they now refuse to pay remaining balance. they also refuse to pay for all the 8 days we had rental car. by law do we have to pay remaining balance because we didnt choose their bodyshop which was the lower estimate. This accident happened in missouri. Why should we have to pay for an accident that they were at fault?

Re: auto accident

If you live in IA, my suggestion is to contact the Insurance Commissioner and inform that office of what is happening with your property damage case. If that does not resolve the issue, contact the IA Attorney General's Office. You may be able to make a small claims court action against the insurance company.

I hope that I have answered all of your questions and I hope that I have provided you with useful information. Please contact me if I have not answered all of your questions.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
