Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Iowa

I bought some printed grosgrain ribbon online, it had pictures of Hello Kitty on it, no where on the site that I purchased it from did it say that I could not use this ribbon in my crafts. I did use the ribbon to make a handmade dog collar which I took to a craft fair and was told I was unable to sell it because Hello Kitty is trademarked. I in no way used the name Hello Kitty anywhere, it was a hand made item and I had paid for the ribbon where there was no disclaimer saying I couldn't use this ribbon to make items for resale. Who is right?

Sorry, but the individual who told you are should not be selling it is correct. The problem is not using the ribbon in your crafts, it is offering them for resale.
