Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Iowa
Using a Sports Team Name
I work at a Community College that shares it's athletic teams' name with a professional basketball team. Our teams' logos are very different from the pro team - but we use the team name without using our college's name ahaed of it. As an example -we would say The Lakers or Laker Girls.. etc... Our question is - is this legal? Or do we need to establish ourselves differently?

Re: Using a Sports Team Name
It depends when your school began using the team name and when the professional team started using the name...if you were the prior user, then you could have superior rights...justin lampel
