Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

Anti-fraternization policy
I am a college student, and I am seeing a girl who is currently a student, but will be a staff member after graduating. The college has a policy that staff and students may not be in romantic relationships and can be dismissed for violations. In this case, she will not have any significant authority over me in her position. Both of us have (in separate incidents) been warned of the policy by our professors, one of whom will be her boss. But given that we are already together prior to her status as a staff member, is this policy legal and enforceable? Can they kick either of us out? And what should we do about this?

Need to review policy and obtain more details to advise. There may a First Amendment issue, but otherwise governed by contract.
