Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

My boss said I would get higher pay for a different job I did at my company. I never got more pay, and he didn't tell the HR guy. He said I will pay you now hourly but wont back pay me. Can I legaly get back pay for the job I did in the past?

You have the right to sue your employer. They have the right to terminate you for any cause, good cause or no cause at all. Iowa is a right to work state.
