Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa
Can a company pay the same employee different hourly rates for different jobs in the same company? For example: A company pays a maintenance worker for his normal job of X dollars an hour. They have a 80 foot radio tower that needs painting. They say to him, "We know that this is harder work and more hazardous, so for the time it takes you to do this job, we'll pay you 1.75 X dollars an hour. But you can decline the job if you want. Is it permissible for a company to make this arrangment?
