Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

my employer is forcing me to take a week off without pay, i am salaried exempt, but they tell me i cant take the whole week off at once because they would have to pay unemployment can this be done?

Unless you have a contract of employment Iowa is a right to work state, and you can be terminated for any reason, good reason or no reason at all. Read into that what you will.
