Is it illegal for an employer to have you

Operate a forklift with being certified for

A year and always writing you up for someone

Else's mistake the fired you is that illegal

Iowa is a right to work state which means you can be fired for any reason, good reason or no reason at all, unless you have a contract of employment or are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. You should see an employment law attorney but it's not going to be cheap.
