Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

I was required to attend a meeting outside of normal work hours this sunday for 6 hours. The meeting was billed as mandatory but i was told i would not be paid for my time. I was under the impression that any mandatory meetings need to be compensated

Maybe, maybe not. Do you have a collective bargaining agreement or a union contract? If not, you may be stuck because Iowa is a right to work state. Contact the office of the labor commissioner.
