Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

Hello, and thank you very much for this service, I will try my best to be concise and sensible.

My name is Steven, and I'm 21 years old - have been working for Little Caesar's Pizza for about two or three months. Things started out okay, I was getting decent hours, up until I was injured on the job - three times. They had me outside doing what they called "shakerboarding", and I got hit three separate times with different objects from passers-by on the street - the third time I had taken a small bit of damage (which I have photo documentation of, and the object that struck me) and I went back inside and told them that I didn't want to be hit any more, that I didn't want to be outside - they agreed, I shouldn't be put through that, and worked me into the schedule working inside after giving me a week off UNPAID - which personally, I thought was quite wrong. After a couple days on the schedule, no more work - and I've been checking back nearly every day for two or three weeks. I feel as if they are retaliating against me, or perceive me as a liability and are treating me unfairly because of it, because they keep saying they'll get me on the schedule, but they're not. I think they're trying to make me quit and trying to treat me rather wrongly about this, so I want to see what I can do - pursue lost wages, at least. A police report was not made at the time of my injury (due to there being no way of telling who hit me, they were in a vehicle going approximately 40 miles per hour) and I refused medical attention because I didn't feel I needed to go to the hospital (however I filed a report later with the Des Moines police to have some documentation of it actually happening) - I figured all would be okay after the first week off they gave me "to rest" - but yeah, as I said, I think they're trying to shove me off without any fair compensation for what has happened - and I didn't even WANT compensation for being hit in the first place, but now I feel that I not only want it, but need it, because I got this job to WORK, not sit around and be told that I'd have work - and I've lost out on anywhere from $200-$400 in wages that I can't afford, and very well could have been working elsewhere for, but in good faith, I stayed.

Any help will be much appreciated - I do understand that this isn't a replacement for a lawyer or legal advice, but is at least a starting point.

Thank you,

Steven M.
