Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

I have signed a contract for employment that requires certain certification. The qualifications for employment (the kind of certification) were changed before I signed the contract, but I was never told. After I signed the contract, I was informed that I will have to get further education to be certified in this position if I want to keep the job. Is this legal?
