Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

This summer I left my full time job and took a job working at a non-profit Day Camp/Childcare. I was employed there a total of 5 weeks. It was all a huge mess and nothing seemed to be organized ever. The staff was promised it would get better. But it didn't. Many of us were never paid for our work- or paid a small amount. There was always an excuse on payday. I was paid on the 3rd week for two weeks of my service. The next time it was payday, my boss did not show up until well past closing time to her office, where she was faced with an unhappy team. She fired me saying she couldn't pay me, which is cool because I wasn't coming back regardless of what she said. The camp ran for 2 more weeks before everyone else quit or was fired. I continually tried to contact the woman who when finally responded, stated she owed me less then half of what she really did- saying i didn't have a time card from that week- or basically she "couldn't find it." Approx. a week later she sent a letter to employees stating she had completely turned over the entire business and was no longer liable to paying anyone. I have not heard from her since. She owes me a little more than $800.00 in lost wages alone. Where do I even start.
