Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa
A former, terminated, employee is seeking new employment. The prospective employer is calling for a reference. How do we answer, or do we have to divulge, our reason for this employees termination if they ask? Job performance and skills were acceptable. Behavior/outbursts with repeated warnings were the reason for termination.

I think how much you disclose is up to you, but you could expose yourself to some liability by telling them more than that the person worked for you, their employment ended, and you would or would not rehire them.
