Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa
I work for a company that requires us currently to use our vehicles for work purposes. We have nothing about this in any job description. The only compensation we recieve from use of our vehicles is mileage. There have been lots of damage done to personal vehicles during this work getting done. When this happens they just tell us oh well turn it into your insurance. They offer no payment for the use of our vehicles and expect our insurance to incure all the damage done to our vehicles. We do not make enough to have commercial insurance on our vehicles. If insurance found out we were doing a work related task with just private insurance they would not cover the damage. This has caused many people to lie about how they damaged their vehicles. This costs us several thousand dollars a year, with no compensation. Is there a law protecting us from having to do such a task without proper compensation or are we just forced to eat this?

Iowa is a right to work state which means you can be terminated for any reason, good reason or no reason at all. What it means is that you have the right to quit, essentially, if you disagree with the conditions of your employment unless you have a contract of employment.
