Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

work contract question

I work as a television reporter. I'm about to sign a new contract, but want to know if I can get out of that contract for a job in an unrelated profession. I have no plans to leave the business at this point, but I'm just trying to protect myself. Thank you.

I would have to review the language to advise.

The contract should have termination and notice language that would let you pull the plug so long as there was no competition within same market.
