Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa
I work for a large company as a computer technician. I am required to be on call 1 week out of every 4. I am called in 2-5 times a week and not paid for either the time called in or the time on call. Instead my employer makes me take the time I spent called in and take that out of my regular 40 hours so that they do not have to pay overtime and it is not documented that i worked anything other than 8-5. Is this legal?

Iowa is a right to work state. That means you can be terminated for any reason, good reason or no reason at all unless there is a contract of employment or a collective bargaining agreement. I think they've got the right to set their work rules any way they like.
