Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa
I work retail. My boss wants us there early to clean. Our hours of business are posted in the window as opening at 8 am. The problem is that he opens the store when he gets there, usually around 7:30 am. In bad weather, customers bring in snow, ice, rain, etc. The carpets become wet and we are expected to clean them with a normal home vac. The only solution is to arrive earlier. We are not allowed to record anything before 8am on our time cards. Is this legal?

That sounds like something you should contact the office of the labor commissioner about.
