Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
I have been at my apartment for close to 2 years. we originally signed a 1 year lease and decided to renew another lease for an extended stay. When we signed the new lease the Landlord took the old lease, crossed off the old date and hand wrote a new date and had my room mate and I initial below. Now he has not kept up with outside safety issues including ice/snow removal and lights in the parking lot at night. Is this a valid lease?

I would tend to think that if you accepted the lease as modified by the landlord it would function as a renewal.
