Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
Can I break this lease
I signed an apartment 12month lease while medically high on anti depressants. Is it possible to break this lease. I technically did not move into this apartment. I have paid rent for 2 months now for a vacant apartment. What are my options. I was overdosed and inpatient at local hospital prior to signing the lease. I found out that my antidepressants were too strong for me as they put me into an overdose. while taking this I was irrational and signed a lease.

Re: Can I break this lease
At this point you should undertake a non-judicial remedy of informal rescission. A letter from your attorney, accompanied by an Affidavit from you and backed by medical records or letter from your MD may be effective.
I have been a Landlord for 25 years.
You will need to act fast and may be better off if you offer to pay for sign and rental ad to get the unit re-rented.
