Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
breaking a lease
i moved in with a girl who is buying a condo. I signed a lease that was just typed up on a computer. I heard something about if she doesn't claim me paying her rent on her taxes the lease is not legal. Right now I am wanting to move out because the situation of living with her is not going well. She is also dating my boss and where I work you are not to fratinize with your manager and he is over to our house quite often. I'm wondering if there is a way to break my lease or if I'm able to.

I need to review it to advise you.
I would charge to advise you for the legal representation.
You may not be able to break the lease. It has nothing to do with the landlord claiming income or not ( and how would you know that?)
Re: breaking a lease
a lease is a written contract between two people, regarding an interest in the property at issue. regardless if the lease was prepared by a layperson or attorney, it may or may not be enforceable based on its written components more or less, and what needs to be included legally. if you would like to contact our law office directly, we can give you a FREE evaluation of your claim/case, and either direction or representation thereafter. for further assistance, simply contact us today.
