Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

Hello,

I have moved in to an apartments recently, and I was showed another apartment before renting mine. Upon moving in we noticed that apartment had a very bad odor which we were told was caused by the moisture underneath the carpet left from the cleaners. We informed the landlord about that and he gave us a dehumidifier. After airing out the apartment for three weeks there is clearly a foul smell still there. As far as electricity, we had to pay a 33$ for the first two weeks of our rent! because we kept the AC and fans running all the time. Yet the landlord decided told us that we have to keep that going until the problem is gone.

The land lord told us if we wanted to we could move to another apartment, but we have to pay for the move, Or we could pay a three months rent to terminate the contact and find another place.

I was hoping that there is a law to help us have the landlord fix the problem or to pay us to move to another apartment.

What can we do?

They're not going to pay you to move to another apartment. You can sue the landlord if you like.
