Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
Ive been without hot water at my apartment for over a week the landlord says its getting fixed.my question is can I legally withhold my rent for this.I live in Cherokee,Iowa if this matters.

You can withhold rent but you must put it in a blocked account or deposit it with the clerk of court for safekeeping while you proceed to litigate your dispute with the landlord at whatever the going rate for attorneys is in Cherokee. I think it is probably somewhere between $100 and $300 per hour up front.
