Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
In Iowa the law says you cannot include a clause in a rental lease asking a tenant to confess to a judgement. So if your lease does not contain such a clause can you ask them to sign one at a later time? Such as if they want out of their contract.

How can you get such a signature if the law doesn't allow it in the initial rental agreement? It sounds like you'd be trying to make an end run around that part of the law.
