Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
What are the laws pertaining to storage units? We currently have a storage unit that we have been in dispute with the owner over the payment. An agreement was never signed and the payment amount was a verbal agreement. They later requested more payment which we refused and have been locked out by them placing their own pad lock on the unit. Can we legally cut the lock and remove our belongings?

No. You'll have to pay them and then sue them.
