Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

ill try and make this as brief as possible, my friend and his sister got an inheritance, the sister blew hers really fast and then borrowed money from my friend. Well she bought a house, and they worked out a deal where my friend lived in the house and the "rent" for every month would be deducted from the debt his sister owes him. Well we moved him in and now it seems like things aren't going well. They have rules he has to abide by , some of which are understandable, and some of which are ridiculous, like he can't have a drink in his room ( mind you he is 30 years old) and we aren't talking alcohol, we are talking like a mountain dew. I was wondering if there was literature somewhere or advice that you could give me , to tell him. Hes only been there a week and his sisters partner, cancelled an appointment for someone to come and lead test the windows in the house, cause his room wasn't all organized yet, and then she made a huge deal about it like it was his fault. Granted i understand there may be no legal issue there, but its hard to see my friend go through this rough time, but i dont know what advice to give. He moved in to help alleviate his sisters debt and to save money, but it seems like he is being treated unfairly and like a child. Any advice to give him would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much for your time

Without sounding snotty, it's your friend's problem and not yours. There is no legal issue here. If he doesn't like the conditions as a tenant his remedy is to move out.
