Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
what right(s) does a tenant have if the landlord does not make necessary repairs to the dwelling? I have never been late in rent in the last 4 1/2 years living here. The landlord states that he has no money and is living on the rent from properties owned.

Under certain conditions you can withhold the rent but it has to be placed in trust until the landlord makes the necessary repairs to the property.
