Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
I am taking my landlord to small claims court for a security deposit in the amount of $450. The landlord stated that the place was up to par during the walk through and I will be hearing back from her within the month for the deposit. I waited 30 days after I moved still nothing, I filed a claim in small courts to get my deposit back. The landlord did not provide proof to me of whether she had to pay for repairs or what have you. So now the landlord is countersuing for $615 for damages and repairs (obviously retaliation) However, I resided at that place for 2 years but do not have a written lease nor photos but documentation of receipts. How strong do you think my case is?

Hard to say. Let the court sort it out.
