Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

Tenant vs. Landlord Initial Move in

My daughter moved into an apartment on the 22nd of February & signed a 1 year lease running from February 22nd, 2005 through February 28th 2006. She was told that the apartment still needed to be cleaned & painted, but she could go ahead & move in and her rent would start on March 1st. She paid her deposit, picked up the keys & started moving. Three days after moving in, a new management company took over. They are now threatening to evict her if she doesn't pay for those seven days, ($165.00) or produce proof she had an agreement. Of course the agreement was verbal. All she has is a copy of the check for the deposit written on the day she signed the lease, which was the 22nd of February. I wouldn't think the management company would of released the keys to her if there was rent due for the remainder of February. She is low income and this is a big issue for her. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Tenant vs. Landlord Initial Move in

Get a statement or letter from the person who rented the apt to her.If that doesn't work, have her do an affidavit.
