Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa
My Boyfriend Had Gotten Arrested On New Years Eve.
But That's Not What I'm Asking For.
Anyways..
My Son's Grandmother Works As A Secretary For The County Attorney In Sioux City, Iowa. (My Son's Family And I Are NOT On Good Terms. We Do Not Speak.)
She Knows Who My Boyfriend Is.
She Knows His Name. (His Name Is John By The Way.)
Well...
We Get A Call On Tuesday The 15th Saying That John WILL Have Warrant Out For His Arrest If We Don't Go Talk To The County Attorney.
We Didn't Receive ANYTHING In The Mail.
Not A Court Date.
Nothing.
FOR MONTHS.
WE WENT AND SEEN THE COUNTY ATTORNEY THAT DAY. (May 15th, 2012)
John Signed A Plea Agreement.
The County Attorney Said It Was All Over With.
No Jail Time.
No Warrant.
No Probation.
Just Fines.
We Get A Knock On Our Door TONIGHT (May 20th, 2012) At Around 9.
John Answered The Door.
I Didn't See Who It Was..
"Are You John? You Have A Warrant Out For Your Arrest." Is What I Heard.
I FLIPPED!
We Told Them We Had Went To Sioux City And John Signed Paperwork!
"The County Attorney Said No Jail Time. Why Does John Still Have A Warrant?!" I Said.
"Monona County Hasn't Received Paperwork So He Has A Live Warrant" One Of The Officers Had Told Us.
(He Had Signed Paperwork ALMOST A WEEK AGO!)
HOW HAVE THEY NOT RECEIVED IT YET?!
Something Is Fishy Here Is It Not? .....
My Son's Grandmother SO HAPPENS To Be The SECRETARY For The COUNTY ATTORNEY...
Doesn't The SECRETARY SEND OUT ALL PAPERWORK?!
And It's Funny....
We Haven't Received ONE PIECE OF MAIL From The County Attorney..
Nick (My Son's Father) And His Family Have NOT Seen Akeo For Almost A Year Coming Next Month.
Not Because I Don't Want Them To..
Because Their Son Doesn't Care See His Own Kid.
I Think Nick's Mother DIDN'T Send Out The Paperwork To Monona County. (Where John Had Gotten Arrested)
Isn't That Conflict Of Interest?
SHE NEEDS TO BE FIRED IF THAT'S WHAT's GOING ON!
I Have A Gut Feeling That Is What Is Happening.
They Had Our Correct Address.
We Asked Them.
Nothing Was Sent Here..
And She Said Nothing Was Send Back.
She Said It Was Sent Out Though?
We Got A Piece Of Mail May 17th, 2012.
That Was The VERY LAST DAY John Could See The County Attorney.
If He Didn't See Her There Would Have Been A Bench Warrant.
But We DID See Her.
He Signed Paperwork..
And THEN We Get Mail Saying He's Supposed To See Her May 17th. We Literally Received It THAT DAY. We Live 17 Miles Away From Sioux City..
It Said It Was Sent The 15th.
Don't You Usually Have A Month Notice Before Any Sort Of Court Date? Or To Speak With Your Lawyer?
It Just Seems Too Fishy To Me.
I Think She "Accidentally" Lost His Paper Work.
I Bet She Threw It Away.
Isn't That A Secretaries Job To Send Out Paperwork?
I Needs Some Advice...
Because If That's What Is Going On Could She Be Fired?
Isn't That Also Messing With People's Mail?
Isn't That Illegal?
Help?
