Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa
I was convicted of a misdemeanor in 2007 the clerk of court wrongfully put it as a felony D on my record causing me to lose a very good job offer 2 years ago. Upon trying to have it corrected they stated that it was correct. 5 years later I was finally able to have it fixed. I have been labeled a felon this whole time according to my criminal record and lost countless amounts of wages. What kind of lawyer would I use to sue and do I have any grounds to sue due to this? I feel as if I was done wrong and they should pay. I have had to work 2 dead end jobs just to take care of my family.

Without some specifics about what job you did not get, and when, you'd still have to prove that but for the mistake they would have hired you, and you'd also have to prove how much money you did not get in actual rather than speculative terms. There is no right to be hired that I know of, so I don't know how you get a lawsuit against a court clerk out of that.
