Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa

My new job gives overtime hours if they need me to work longer than my schedule and even be on call on the weekend and work 20 hrs but then they dont want to pay me and tell me to come in late to work sometimes to not come in at all on a day during the week. MY question is this seems unethical is it and what do i do.

You may want to contact the labor commissioner's office, but Iowa is a right to work state which means you can be fired for any reason, good reason or no reason at all, unless you have a contract of employment or are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
