Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa
My son paid a deposit of $1000.00 to attend a massage school in our area. He was told that this would secure a place for him. He later changed his mind about attending and wanted to pursue other interests. Since he changed his mind later than 3 days from when he paid the deposit, the school is refusing to refund his money or any portion of his money. They are saying the state law says he has no right to a refund after the 3 days. This does not seem reasonable or legal. Can they use this state law for a deposit in this manner?

What's important is what the person signed on to. It should tell you whether the deposit is non refundable or not.
