Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Iowa
I live in Iowa. I saw a counselor for my anxiety. I mentioned a friend's name to the counselor and the counselor said she also knew that same friend. The next day that friend called me to say the counselor phoned her to catch up on old times and during that phone call the counselor told the friend that I had been to her office for my anxiety. My friend said, "I had no idea you have panic attacks." Is it wrong for a counselor to tell other people about my counseling session?

Yes. Ask the counselor why he/she would think that was appropriate and instruct the counselor not to do it again. Also consider changing counselors to one that respects patient-counselor confidentiality.
