Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Iowa
Situation: On Nov. 30 I was put on the pancreas transplant list at the Iowa City VA hospital.
Dec. 14th I was called in for transplant, but during the process setting up transplant
there was a communication mixup and the transplant was cancelled. Later that week
I received a letter stating that for some reason I cancelled the transplant.
(I did not cancel the transplant) Since then I have asked for the evidence to back up their
letter and have been ignored. The latest issue is now they want me to travel to the hospital
for some follow up work.
I would like to know what I can do about this, if anything. Thank you.

There are several avenues open to you. 1. Go to the head of the department. 2. File a complaint with the Iowa Board of Medicine. 3. Hire a lawyer. 4. Go to the media. 5. Walk away and wait for the next opportunity for a transplant.
