Legal Question in Personal Injury in Iowa

My husband was part of a class action law suit against a drug company who's drug caused diabetes, which he has. The settlement came thru and he has won $6000.00 but in the release form the Law firm that represented the case and won, it asks If he is on Medicare or Medicaid, which he is, he is on SSD for Mental Health reasons, not diabetes reasons. Why would the Release form ask IF he is on Medicare or Medicaid?

Because there's a potential setoff if he is on medicaid.
