Legal Question in Personal Injury in Iowa

Teacher hit my son at school, but left no injury

Ok here's my question. My step son is 12 years old and was sitting in a chair with wheels on it in keyboarding class. He asked the teacher where he was supposed to be in the keyboarding lesson and apparently this frustrated the teacher. I don't know if other things had happened before this to irritate the teacher ( my son says no, but hey he's 12). Well the teacher says (in front of the whole class) ''Are you ignorant? Are you stupid?'' and then proceeds to shove my son in the shoulder to turn his chair to face another direction. We reported this immediately to the principal and there was an investigation. The investigation came back ''founded'' that the teacher was in the wrong, but it was dropped because there was no injury or mark left on the child. We have pulled him out of this school but we are not sure where to go from here. Is this a personal injury issue? A family court issue? I am a teacher myself and have never had to deal with it. We know we want to pursue the case because all of us involved believe the teacher needs to be reprimanded and have something on his record indicating how he treats children. Thanks for your advice.

You have the right to sue the teacher, but what attorney would be interested in the case if the jury came back say for only $100.
