Legal Question in Personal Injury in Iowa

Is there a time frame applied to a wrongful death suit against an auto maker and what type of attorney would handle such a thing. There was an engine fire due to an alternator and this resulted in a death.

There isn't just one simple answer, but as a rule-of-thumb two years is what most statute of limitations are in Iowa. Minors are different there statute of limitations begins to run from age of majority and is of a different length. You need to immediately speak with an attorney to get a definitive answer for your case. Without more I can not say how long yours would be.
