Getting back property after stored for 2 years
My ex-boyfriend and I broke up 2 years ago. While we were together I bought furniture, dishwasher, etc. I left some property there including wash machine, couch, dishwasher, many misc items when we broke up due to lack of space I had. We also had a cell phone bill toghether. After the break up, I asked for $200 for his portion of the cell phone, but never got it. Now, all I want is the 35-gallon fish tank we had and he will not give it to me. Is it worth it (can I) to sue for all the stuff I left or $$ equivilent? I admit, the main reason I am doing this is because I am upset. But the fish tank meant ALOT to me and now he's meaning just mean about it. We only had a verbal agreement that it was OK for me to keep stuff there until I had room for it.

You probably could file a replevin action against him, which is essentially a request that the court order him to return items of personal property to you. If he was smart, which I'm guessing he isn't, he could countersue for storage fees. There will be filing fees for the filing your replevin action, and there will be fees for the sheriff or process server to deliver the documents to him. You will also need to take at least a half day off of work for the trial. Bottom line, it's up to you.
