Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
If the city sewer backs up in my home and causes damage, is the city responsible for paying for those damages?
There is also a city sewer main in our back yard that had to be dug up to fix the problem. The company that dug the hole sent the bill to us, are we responsible for paying or is the city.
Upon the main being dug up they found out that the main was not the problem, the problem was farther up the city pipes.
Am i responsible for paying any of the costs of having a plumber come to my home thinking it was just and issue with my home, or the digging of the hole in my back yard or for replacing flooring in my home due to the damage the back up caused?

The problem you have is proof. I suggest you get the services of a good attorney because the city is not going to roll over on you.
