Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

Contract

We have a contract on 20 acres; myself and the person selling us the land drew it up .It was signed in front of a notary, and filed at the courthouse. We have paid on the contract for over a year, never been late and have paid more then the contract states we have to. Now the seller has decided they want all the money at one time .No where in the contract does it state she has this right. She demanded all the money at one time. Told me if I didnt come up with it all she would rescind the contract. Since it wasnt drawn up by a lawyer its no good. Is this true, can she just say its null and void and it will be so? If we go to court would a contract like I have described stand up in a court of law?

Thanks for your time

Robin

Re: Contract

It depends on what the contract says. Just because is was not drafted by an attorney does not necessarily mean it is "no good." You should have an attorney review the document as soon as possible.
