Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
My father (Dave Baculis) is sueing 3 trucking companies for flood damage done in 2008. I want no part of it and now the 3 trucking companies are wanting to subpoena me and make me do an deposition to what I know about my father and what happened in the time durning the flood. My father and I have not spoken in over 3 years and I dont like the idea of going against him. My question is do I have to do this and if so can I just pleed the 5th?

You must respond to a subpoena on some level or risk being cited for contempt. You cannot "plead the fifth" because you haven't been charged with a criminal offense. Look on the bright side of things-you'll get paid mileage.
