Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
if someone found a new car muffler on the side of the road and gave it to a friend and a few days later was confronted by another party that said it was there's and had papers to prove it. Would you have to return the muffler to that person even though you were an innocent 3rd party

Look at it another way: What proof does the "innocent third party" have that the muffler was not actually stolen and now the "innocent third party" is in possession of stolen property? Not saying the "friend" stole the muffler, but maybe someone stole it and left it by the side of the road to pick up later. Is a free muffler worth it to get into a situation like this? Do the right thing and give the muffler back to the rightful owner.
