Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

Is this a free service. The city did some sewer work and dug up several flower beds. They said it was their land and would not compensate me anything for the damage done. Can I legally do anything to fight this?

If it's the city's right of way, the answer is no. You make improvements to another's land at your own risk.
