Home buying

HDGF, we purchased a home thru lender no agent direct from owner and at the closing there was an HDGF on the side of the sellers that we ended up paying for because they said it was our responsibility, they received the asking price for the house plus the 10,100 which was the amount of the HDGF which they did not feel that they had to pay. What is this thing and who is responsible for the payment of it ?

I have been involved in tens of thousands of real estate closings, and HDGF does not sound familiar. Who told you you needed to pay this? Did it remain on the sellers side of the settlement statement even though you paid it? Sounds like someone is up to no good, but I would need to review the relevant documents to be certain. I would be happy to discuss this with you and review the documents you were provided.
