Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

Home Inspection

Can a buyer ask for additional repairs after the first home inspection was negotiated, agreed, and signed? Buyers sent a furnace inspector 2 months after and 10 days before closing and now want it replaced even though it is working, just old.

Re: Home Inspection

Sorry for the rant, but.....

You should be discussing this with your attorney, since he or she would have access to the purchase agreement. Or did your real estate agent tell you you did not need an attorney?

Both the buyer and the seller should have their own attorneys (you are experiencing just one of many reasons why), and anyone who tells you that you do not need one is not looking out for your best interests. And just so we are clear, I am not talking about "deed and green" attorneys who do nothing but prepare a deed for $50 or whatever (since I have already blogged extensively about "deed and green" attorneys, I will save you the additional rant). I mean a "real" attorney who represents your interests.
